College Counseling

Great Hearts is committed to an individualized approach to college counseling that focuses on finding the best fit for each student. The emphasis of the program is on helping students discover who they are as scholars and emerging adults. Throughout their years at Great Hearts Monte Vista, our students learn to be comfortable in the worlds of both ideas and practicality, understanding the relationship between the two. This serves our students particularly well when making post-secondary plans.

Great Hearts Monte Vista is proud to have graduated our inaugural class of 2018!
Graduates from the Class of 2018 are pursuing their post-secondary education in eight states and were collectively awarded nearly $3,000,000 in merit scholarships.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How can I register for the ACT or SAT? Please visit actstudent.org to register for the ACT or collegeboard.org to register for the SAT. To learn if you qualify for a fee waiver, please contact Mrs. Bowman.

How do I obtain my transcript? The Office of College Counseling distributes transcripts for the following purposes – applications to college, high school students’ applications to summer enrichment programs, and applications for scholarships. For applications to colleges and universities, transcripts will be sent directly from GHMV via Naviance or electronic records upload; for applications to enrichment programs or scholarships, transcripts may be sent via electronic records upload or postal service, depending on the requirements of the application.

For all other requests, please contact the Office Manager. Transcript requests should be placed a minimum of five business days (days that school is in session) in advance.

I am a college representative – how can I schedule a visit to your campus? We are set up on RepVisits/Counselor Community for your convenience. We look forward to having you on our campus!
Please reach out to the college counselor directly if you’d like to request additional availability or set a time to sit in on a few of our classes (Humane Letters and Euclidian Geometry are fan favorites), tour the academy, or host a special event at our campus.

The monthly newsletter for College Counseling includes recommended reading, an outline of upcoming events from the GHMV Office of College Counseling and colleges/universities nationwide, local and national opportunities for jobs, internships, research, and volunteering, and a list of scholarships with upcoming deadlines. The newsletter is sent directly to students by email at the beginning of the month and a link is included in the weekly parent newsletter.
